So! Simtronic

Simphiwe Gama, commonly known as Simtronic Dj, is a Swati born Dj and music producer, who was born in Nhlangano then moved to South Africa, where he did most of his high school education before attending the University of Pretoria. Simtronic has a radio show on Tshwane FM, called Never Ending Vibes and he is also the man behind the local hit, Yaya, which is originally 80 Script’s song which he re-released, last year, featuring Una Rams.

Simtronic says that deejaying came about in grade 12, in which he had a friend, Dj Supreme who would play at most school parties, and he found that interesting as it was something new to him and he asked Supreme to teach him how to play the decks. He then got into some McDonalds competition where he had to perform in front of a huge crowd in which Dj Euphonic was one of the judges, and he got into the top 10, then the finale with major celebrities who came through, including Bonang Matheba.

MTV Base was shooting the competition which was an amazing experience for him. He says “It didn’t look like a possibility to be at an event that would be on MTV base. In just three months into this thing, and here I am going into MTV base and it felt like a calling.” Simtronic then dropped out of university to follow his calling and it was not easy for him at the beginning of it all.

He says that he is a Dj first before he is a music producer because he is always actively deejaying at events and shows, although making music does expand how far he can deejay. He started radio last year, September, and the show was called That’s so Simtronic. He says, “I wanted a platform to talk to people about myself, the music that I like and subjects that matter to me.”  The show has featured the likes of Yanga Chief, Lady Zamar, Dj Lulo Café, just to name a few. But then the show name changed to Never Ending Vibes (nevs), which airs every Sunday between 7p.m and 10 p.m on
Tshwane FM.

Simtronic says what gets him out of bed every morning is his alarm…laughs then says it is actually the drive that he has. “There is so much to be done. I always say that the formula to this life is that you need to let go of everything and not hold on to anything.” He says, laughing.

He adds that there are only a few things that he attached to and that is how he learnt to be impartial to his affairs and not be entitled to a tittle, position, loss, or victory. He believes in doing the best he can and moving on to do even much better. “That is how I start my day every day, knowing that I got to do more and more, and who better to do more than myself.” He concludes.

Simtronic is currently in the studio, making some new music and he is working with Lunatic, the producer of K.O’s hit single, Caracara. He mentions that there will be more deals, partnerships, radio and social media presenceto expect from him in the next few months.
