Unleashing The Wolf

After all the adversities we have been facing as the entertainment industry of Eswatini, we finally have the chance to rise up and have purpose, be excited about this show and that event, have the chance to reconnect and network but above all, do what we love and what we’re most passionate about. As I was mingling last weekend, I bumped into an old friend with whom I had a great chat with about his life in music, which was long overdue.

 

Sukoluhle Dlamini (27), commonly known as !Sooks is a multi award winning Swati ho use Dj, who also plays a few musical instruments, born and raised in Mbabane, Eswatini. He did his primary and high school education at St Marks before enrolling Limkokwing University of Technology for a business management degree.


!Sooks says he grew up in a family of musicians in which his parents were choristers. “I fell in love with music and I decided to take it as a career”, he mentioned. !Sooks fell in love with music at the at of seven then decided to be a Dj when he was in high school. 


!Sooks says he generally plays electronic music but it just happened that he got into playing house music because he grew up listening to a lot of Kwaito and tribal house. House music is really deep within him. 


When I asked him on how he got to create his own fan base as a deep house Dj, because that’s always a challenge for deep house Djs he said that going cross boarder, to SA was of great assistance to him because he was then recognized and appreciated even locally and he even managed to bag himself an MTN SWAMA in 2019 for best house artist. 


The multi award winning Dj has just released new music, on the 5th November, a single tittled “Eva”, featuring South African Dj and producer Dwson, which is available on all digital music platforms. “Eva is one of my most streamed songs so far”, he excitedly mentions. 


!Sooks says he is glad he has this single out and people are receiving it very well because when the COVID-19 pandemic began, he had music out and it was depressing that he couldn’t play it for his fans out there. What he loves doing most is playing music and connecting with his fans.

Oros Mampofu (28) is a South African actor and musician. He was born in Umtata,Eastern Cape and grew up in the Fort Gale area. His first acting debut was in the SABC 1 drama series Kowethu in 2014,after graduating from AFDA in Johannesburg,with a degree in Motion Picture and Live Performance.
